On Monday, June 4, 2007, your tips through the NC WANTED Hotline helped U.S. Marshals capture Clayton Earl Levi, a violent fugitive on the Target Ten List. A few weeks ago, NC WANTED broadcast a story about Clayton Levi, who was on the loose and considered armed and dangerous. U.S. Marshals say this broadcast prompted them to turn up the heat on their search. One caller phoned in a tip that pointed Marshals to Levi's vicinity. Another caller browsed the NC WANTED website and made a positive identification of Levi, then pointed authorities to his exact location.
At around 3:00 p.m. on June 4, U.S. Marshals pursued Levi as he began driving, then pulled him over and arrested him.
Levi was on NC WANTED’s Target Ten list because of his long rap sheet in North Carolina, including violent sex crimes, violation of parole, failure to register as a sex offender, and a homicide charge in Texas. He also had been linked to white supremacist activity in the Cumberland County area.
Thanks to your tips, Clayton Earl Levi is behind bars in a Cumberland County jail.
