This week NC Wanted brought you breaking news related to the Michelle Young murder investigation. Two new searches were conducted in Brevard and Etowah, NC.
Investigators from the Wake County Sheriff’s office and the State Bureau of Investigation conducted searches at the homes of Pat Young and Heather McCracken, the mother and sister of Michelle’s husband, Jason Young. Young moved to the western part of the state to live with his relatives after Michelle's murder.
There has been much speculation and media coverage concerning the latest searches. What prompted the action? What were investigators searching for? What items were seized? How will the searches impact the investigation? Was valuable evidence obtained?
Jason Young was listed as an “adult suspect” in an application for a Non-Testimonial Identification Order on Nov. 7, 2006. No other person has been identified as a suspect in the case. Jason Young has not provided a statement to law enforcement or cooperated in the investigation of the murder of his wife.
The new searches indicate the investigation is very active and focused.
