Authorities tell NC WANTED Concord Police apprehended Target Twenty fugitive Roger Dale Benton on Sunday, June 29, shortly before 8:00pm. An anonymous caller led authorities to Benton’s whereabouts. He was found hiding in a garage behind a house at 877 Sunderland Road in Concord. Currently, Benton is in the Cabarrus County Jail under a $20,000 bond.
The 50-year-old is charged with first degree sexual offense for allegedly molesting his sister’s 3-year-old daughter back in February. Investigators are still confirming whether the arrest was a direct result of information provided from the NC WANTED website, where Benton’s photo and profile have been featured since mid-May.

JOHNSTON COUNTY: Police say Roger Dale Benton was staying with his sister in Clayton when he molested her 3-year-old daughter the night of February 5, 2008. The girl’s parents reported the incident the next day. Clayton Police went to interview Benton that day, but when they went back to the residence to serve Benton a warrant for first-degree sexual offense against a child, he was gone.
Roger Dale Benton is described as a 50-year-old nomad who makes a living by borrowing money from family and friends and picking up odd jobs wherever he goes. Investigators say Benton cannot read or write and could be working in construction or masonry.
