One case NC WANTED is following is the unsolved murder of Rosa Lee Crabtree of Rougemont in Durham County.

DURHAM COUNTY:  Rosa Lee Crabtree had just returned home from church and was getting ready to go to bed when it happened.

Tony Crabtree checked on his 68-year-old mother on his way to work every morning, and on November 7, 2005, found her on the living room floor. She had been stabbed five times with a pair of scissors she kept in a kitchen drawer. A television set, other electronics and some jewelry were missing and some physical evidence was left behind.

The Durham County Sheriff’s Office has suspects in the case, and sent DNA for testing shortly after the murder. Up till this point, though, they have been unable to make an arrest in the case, and are hoping someone with information about the murder will come forward. They feel sure more than one person was involved, and are open to the possibility Mrs. Crabtree knew her killers. Her son is nearly certain. His mother kept her door locked at all times, and police said there was no forced entry that night.
