Prosecutors: Alleged shooter at Shaw was angered by man walking dog
Prosecutors said Kamal Rasool Abdal-Rafi was upset that a man was walking his dog close to the King Khalid mosque on campus.
Posted — UpdatedAbdal-Rafi was carrying two guns when he was arrested, and authorites found three more in his car.
According to the Wake County ABC Law Enforcement, one of their officers heard the shots while in the area on an unrelated alcohol call. A bystander directed him to the building, where he chased and held Abdal-Rafi until Raleigh police officers could take him into custody
Shaw University canceled classes for the rest of the day on Tuesday
WRAL News reached out to the university for comment. The university said they are referring any questions about the case to the Raleigh Police Department.
A judge set Abdal-Rafi's bond at $150,000 and said he can't return to the university or have contact with the victim.
